Background

Smile Again Africa Development Organization (SAADO) is a national non-profit humanitarian and development organization dedicated to working with the youth and their communities to reach their full potential. Founded in 2011, SAADO works across all the states of South Sudan promoting social cohesion and empowering communities to tackle the causes of poverty and injustices.  We provide humanitarian assistance to families affected by disaster & conflict while partnering with communities for long – term solutions to alleviate poverty. Motivated by the potential in the youth, we optimize their role to foster peaceful co-existence and economic empowerment in South Sudan.            

 

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, Information Technology Officer, assist the management in the development of IT, and the Project’s planning coordination, implementation, training and testing of new corporate software, and upgrades of enhancements to existing software. Perform system administrative duties associated with corporate software, including configuration and maintenance of servers and databases. Provide first and second level helpdesk support and troubleshooting to staff computers in relation to IT operational matters and to users in relation to use of SAADO’ systems.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Supports in Identifying  and develop storylines for publications and substantive articles to be published on web and in other media

·         Supports in desktop publishing and graphic design of print and online materials, including fact sheets, brochures, e-newsletters and social media sites, and will also help develop SAADO branding strategies and popularizing plans for new and on-going programs.

·         Takes a lead role in maintaining and updating the SAADO website on a regular basis, helping to populate the Intranet with relevant and timely communications materials, and developing and executing upon SAADO media strategy. 

·         Provide communications support during the organization of public events initiated.

·         Assist with coordinating external presentations and facilitating effective representation at public events. 

·         Supports in analysing and reporting on communication impact for digital/social and traditional media.

·         Deploy, configure, upgrade, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server databases in liaison                                

·         Prepare and execute SQL scripts to analyses and modify data, whilst ensuring the integrity of data    

·          Required to develop, and maintain highly accurate and accessible reports across a variety of data

·          Native reporting (built-in) Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services

·         Train and assist users in the use of application reporting tools

·         Consistency, openness and integrity in decision making 

·         Be trusted to take responsibility and ownership for actions

·         Use effective channels and systems for communication enjoyment & involvement

·         Have the enthusiasm, courage and support to implement something new

·          Perform any other duties as directed by IT Managers Information Systems

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

·          At least a Bachelor’s degree in computer Science, or IT, with 5 years’ work experience.

·          Experience with the use and management of Windows PC’s, Windows Servers

·         Demonstrable understanding of relational database management systems.

·         Experience with deploying and administering web based platforms in Windows.

·         Additional Professional training in Communications including media, film, directing desirable.

·         Experience in program coordination

·         Effective use of social media for technical application

·         Good photography, radio and video, and media skills

·         Computer literacy and accuracy in particular extensive experience with the Microsoft Office

·         Statistical reporting and analysis skills to enable comprehensive research on database

·         Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Arabic and local South Sudan languages

·         Excellent communication (written and oral), editing, and advocacy skills;

·         Ability to work under pressure and prioritize assignments.
