Smile Again Africa Development Organization (SAADO) is a national non- profit humanitarian and development organization dedicated to working with the youth and their communities to reach their full potential. Founded in 2011, SAADO works across all the states of South Sudan promoting social cohesion and empowering communities to tackle the causes of poverty and injustices.  We provide humanitarian assistance to families affected by disaster & conflict while partnering with communities for long – term solutions to alleviate poverty. Motivated by the potential in the youth, we optimize their role to foster peaceful co-existence and economic empowerment in south Sudan.   


 The Role

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the WASH Coordinator is to oversee the implementation of quality WASH interventions, develop new proposals, sectorial assessment, project planning, coordination, overseeing technical design of project activities, interface with WASH stakeholders and create networks for growth of SAADO wash programming.



  • Manage the assigned WASH project(s) to meet the project objectives within budget and allot time frame.
  • Provide strong leadership to ensure both short & long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries, local authorities and local WASH staff.
  • Develop new proposals, linked to the country strategy, in conjunction with the relevant field Specialists.
  • Develop and implement an appropriate and effective WASH strategy, setting clear objectives and indicators, for WASH activities in consultation with other WASH staff and field managers, and, where appropriate, with the local communities.
  • Continuously monitor and supervise WASH activities, overseeing the technical design, execution and evaluation of progress through outputs and impacts using both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Provide input into the integration of beneficiary participation and accountability in all aspects of the project.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities according to SAADO, donor and other applicable timeframes and formats.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure awareness of project objectives, and opportunity for feedback.
  • Manage the WASH budget for the assigned project(s) and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet standards with regard to financial management, including accountability and good governance.
  • Participate in WASH coordination meetings and other working groups, representing SAADO and feeding back to the WASH staff and field managers on relevant issues.
  • Participate in developing broader sector strategies through influence of and leadership within inter-agency coordination forums, including taking on a co-chairing role where needs demand
  • Develop work plans in line with financial pipelines.
  • Line management responsibility for WASH Specialist and Environment and Natural Resources Specialist.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Engineering, International Development or other relevant field of study.
  • At least 5 to 7 years’ experience in program design and implementation.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects, standards and guidelines for WASH programming and coordination.
  • Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of donors, UN agencies, and other NGOs.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up monitoring & evaluation systems in large complex Programs.
  • Excellent communication, analytical skills, organization and writing/editing skills.
