SAADO – Smile Again Africa Development Organization is a national non- profit humanitarian and

development organization dedicated to working with the youth and their communities to reach their full

potential. Founded in 2011, SAADO works across all the states of South Sudan promoting social cohesion and empowering communities to tackle the causes of poverty and injustices.  We provide humanitarian assistance to families affected by disaster & conflict while partnering with communities for long – term solutions to alleviate poverty. Motivated by the potential in the youth, we optimize their role to foster peaceful co-existence and economic empowerment in south Sudan.   


The Role

Reporting to the Logistics and Safety Officer, the driver/Mechanic provides official safe driving services to SAADO staff for them to effectively reach areas of operation.



·         Driving SAADO motor vehicles as authorized from time to time.

·         Picking and dropping visitors and staff to and from the airport and taking them to their required destinations.

·         Ferrying staff and goods to all where SAADO operates.

·         Ensuring safety of the passengers and/or goods.

·         Delivery of mail and documents to designated locations.

·         Payment of utility bills and collection/delivery of office mail.

·         Drive the vehicle to locations specified as authorized in a responsible and professional manner

·         Ensure the vehicle is fuelled in time for trips and carry out proper management of fuel supply for the assigned vehicle in accordance with SAADO policies and procedures.

·         Adhere to company policies regulating Vehicle management.

·         Ensure that all vehicle journeys are authorized in advance by line managers.

·         Ensure that all vehicle journeys to be recorded in the logbook at the start and completion of journeys

·         Ensure that keys and vehicle documents are kept in secure place when the vehicle is not in use

·         Ensure that all passengers also wear seats before driving the vehicle.

·         Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road.

·         Ensure vehicle is always in good working condition, including cleanliness and carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, etc. Detecting and reporting malfunctioning on vehicle systems.

·         Ensure that vehicles driven have spare wheels and tools allocated to them.

·         Ensure that licenses (including the driver’s license) motor vehicle Insurance etc. is always up to date by timely informing the Administrative Assistant.

·         Informing the Assistant Administrative Officer when vehicles are due for service and expired insurance

·         Providing periodic usage report of vehicles including total mileage, fuel consumption and expenditure Follow and abide by traffic rules, regulations, driver safety manual and any other instructions given by supervisor.

·         Maintain all vehicle safety equipment, as per vehicle safety kit, in liaison with the logistics officer- including first aid kit, communication equipment and fire extinguisher.

·         Work after duty hours or holidays/weekends as and when required and in prior notice from the line manager.

·         Performing any other relevant duties assigned by your supervisor from time to time.



·         At least a secondary school certificate and 5 years work experience.

·         Clean driving license with a clean record; Computer literacy can be an added advantage.

·         Defence driving and First Aid certificate will be an added advantage

·         Basic mechanical knowledge is an added advantage;

·         Good knowledge of routes, duty stations, project areas, in South Sudan

·         Ability to write and produce preliminary transport reports

·         Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and respect local culture

·         Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Arabic and local South Sudan languages

·         Ability to work under pressure and prioritize assignments.
