potential. Founded in 2011, SAADO works across all the states of South Sudan promoting social cohesion and empowering communities to tackle the causes of poverty and

injustices We provide humanitarian assistance to families affected by disaster & conflict while partnering with communities for long – term solutions to alleviate poverty.

Motivated by the potential in the youth, we optimize their role to foster peaceful co-existence and economic empowerment in south Sudan.

 

 

The Role

 

 

 

Reporting to FSL- Technical Advisor,the nutrition officer is responsible for identifying nutritional needs in the various segments of the project, particularly with the below five years children, pregnant and lactating mothers, design and implements the nutritional strategy with in the project. The position shall also coordinate with other activities within the project and develop appropriate communication material.

 

 

 

The nutrition officer is responsible for implementing nutrition and prevention of malnutrition through the information kiosk, partner NGOs, and communities. Developing appropriate communications in preventing malnutrition among under five years children and promote nutritional status and foster behaviour change in the target population. He/she shall liaise with local institutions, NGOs, and government departments in providing nutrition supplement to children less than five years, pregnant and lactating mothers.

 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

 

·         Leads in regular and monitoring visits Nutrition program sites in the community.

 

·         Promote development of local policies that support improved food and nutrition habits for infants, young children, youth and women.

 

·         Gathers relevant information on the project to enhance informed accurate decision making.

 

·         Contribute to the development of training curricula, tools and related resources  for workshops and seminars Support in sharing and gathering information with  / from local communities in the project site in order to improve Nutrition standards in the community.

 

·         Attend focused group discussions and other related Community level meeting to identify constraints to success of nutrition interventions.

 

·         Contribute in data collection, nutrition surveys, campaigns, food distributions and monitoring of beneficiary trends.

 

·         Support engagement of communities in improved nutrition practice including promotion of traditional food security structures.

 

·         Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of project impact /interventions

 

·         Provide general administration of the office and care of equipment.

 

·         Line managing responsibility for Assistant Project Officers.

 

 

 

Competency

 

·         Coordination and liaising skills, community mobilization skills

 

·         Good oral and written communication skills ( English,  and Local Arabic)

 

·         Proficiency in computers.

 

·         Excellent knowledge of nutritional related issues.

 

·         Independence and imitative person.

 

·         High level of integrity.

 

·         Ability to cooperate with others and work in a participatory manner to achieve established goals.  

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

·         Diplomain Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics, or other related field is required.

 

·         Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.

 

·         Experience in the area of nutrition promotion and addressing malnutrition.

 

·         Two to three years’ experience in  a similar role

 

·         Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Arabic and local South Sudan languages

 

·         Excellent communication (written and oral), editing, and advocacy skills.

 

·         Computer literate in (Microsoft word, excel, and power point presentation.)
